SANCITY

This performative short film was shot in the historic Arif Pasa Apartment in Istanbul, where the artist also lived. The apartment is adjacent to the SanCity Shopping Centre and hotel construction site, which has been ongoing since 2012 and has caused fatal damages.

The surreal experimental film explores Political Realism, referencing Thucydides' Melian Dialogues and themes of power and the "other". It brings together performers from diverse disciplines such as actors, musicians, dancers, directors, and jugglers.

The film is dedicated to the memory of the workers who died during the shopping centre's construction and Niyazi Özlü, the San Theater Watchman who perished in the 1985 fire that destroyed the historic San Theatre, set alight by religious groups during the staging of Muzur Muzikal.
